The Rolls Royce Phantom IV Sedanca De Ville is one of the most exclusive and prestigious cars ever produced. Only 18 examples were made between 1950 and 1956, and sold only to buyers Rolls Royce deemed worthy of the distinction: the British royal family and heads of state. Sixteen are known to still exist in museums and in public and private collections.

One of the most notable examples of this rare model is the one that was custom-built for the Aga Khan III, the spiritual leader of the Ismaili Muslims and a prominent philanthropist. The Aga Khan ordered the car in 1950, but it took more than two years to complete, due to his numerous and extravagant requests. The car had a special Sedanca de Ville body, with long, curvy front fenders and articulated covers for the rear wheels. The car was also equipped with a variety of accessories, such as electric windows, a dictaphone, a picnic set, a mirror, a brush, a comb and a silver compact, all engraved with the Aga Khan's royal coat of arms. The car was painted a bright shade of blue, with a silver roof and red leather interior.

The Aga Khan used the car for his official and personal travels, and was often seen transporting him and his wife, Begum Omm-e-Habibah, to various events and ceremonies. The car also witnessed some historic moments, such as the Aga Khan's meeting with Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1952, and his visit to Pakistan in 1954, where he inaugurated the Aga Khan University Hospital. The car remained in the possession of the Aga Khan until his death in 1957, and was then sold by his widow to a private collector.

The current owner of this splendid car is Ion Tiriac, the famous Romanian businessman, former tennis player and hockey player. Tiriac purchased the car in 2015, and displayed it in his private collection, which also includes six other Phantom models, from I to VII. The Tiriac collection is the only current gallery featuring all seven Phantom models.
